And Save You Money For The Rest of Your Life!

Our mission at the Better Gas Mileage Company is to supply our customers with the highest quality products and information to help you get the most value from every drop of gasoline or diesel fuel you buy with your hard earned money!

First of all I would like to dispel the notion most people have that, "Somewhere out there is an invention, widget, gismo, or some other quick-fix thing-e-ma-bob you can buy, that will get you better gas mileage!" Not True. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has tested 100's of products that claim to get better gas mileage and found none to be cost effective in getting better gas mileage!

The fact of the matter is, when it comes to gas mileage, the order of importance is:

  1. What you drive
  2. How you drive
  3. Where you drive
  4. When you drive
What you drive (the kind of car you've bought) and the condition it's in, is the ultimate factor. After that, how you drive is the most important thing in conservation and gas mileage. How you behave behind the wheel can change your gas mileage in a big way. The difference could be a realistic 35% dollar improvement between bad and good driving habits. Where you drive or the percentage between city and highway driving has to be taken into account. And, when you drive or how you pick your drive times is the last but not least factor effecting gas mileage.

On warm or hot days when you turn on the Air-Conditioning, you are putting an extra load on your car's engine and you are burning some additional gas, consuming more energy. There is a trade-off of energy consumption between the Wind Resistance and running your Air-Conditioner. No matter what speed you are traveling at, your Air-conditioner uses the same amount of energy. On the other hand, Wind Resistance increases the faster you go. The brake even point for most cars is at 40 miles per hour with the windows down. Above 40 mph it is better to roll up the windows (making your car more streamline reducing Wind Resistance) and turning on the Air-Conditioner. Below 40 mph turn off the Air-Conditioner and roll down the windows, you will save Gasoline and Money.

Almost all gas stations sell three grades of gasoline. If your car is made to run on Regular, burn Regular! Paying more for Plus or Premium will not increase your gas mileage enough to make up the difference in price. If your car requires Plus Grade, burn Plus. Premium won't help you save money. And if your car burns Premium, well, you bought the car.

If the car you have is equipped with Cruise Control use it whenever possible, driving at a steady speed can increase gas mileage, even on short distances. Get familiar with how to use it, so it becomes second nature to switch it on. The more you rely on the Cruise Control the better your gas mileage will be.
